Holcomb Elementary had the joy of welcoming Andrea L. Rogers, a member of the Cherokee Nation and 2025 Caldecott Medal winner!

As part of Read Across America Week, Ms. Rogers shared her award-winning book “Chooch Helped”, introducing students to meaningful elements of Cherokee culture and language through storytelling.

Read Across America Week has been full of fun across Fayetteville Public Schools!

Former Superintendent Dr. John L. Colbert has been sharing the joy of reading by bringing "Green Eggs and Ham" to life at several elementary campuses. Today at Holcomb Elementary, students were all smiles and full of excitement during his lively performance!

Read Across America Week is a wonderful reminder of the power of literacy. By encouraging a love of reading, we help spark imagination, build community, and support academic success for learners of all ages. 💜

Fayetteville Public Schools’ annual District Art Show is now on display at the Fayetteville Public Library! We loved seeing students and families enjoying the artwork together at the reception, featuring over 140 pieces from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

The exhibit highlights the incredible talent of our students and the inspiring work happening in our Visual Arts classrooms across the district. You can view the collection in the McIlroy Hallway near the Event Center until April 6th.

It’s that time of year! Any former Holcomb Student who attended for at least 2 years and is now a high school senior is eligible to apply for a PTA scholarship. Holcomb PTA is offering two $500 scholarships this year. Please share with former Holcomb Students who are now seniors. It’s School Resource Officer Day! SRO’s play an important part in our schools by not only promoting safety, but by bridging the gaps between law enforcement and our youth.

SROs are carefully selected, specifically trained, sworn law enforcement officers assigned to work with schools using community-oriented policing concepts.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year - the annual Spirit Event with The Light Show! The Light Show is a drive-thru Christmas experience like no other. Bud Walton Arena was packed on Friday as more than 10,000 elementary students cheered on the Lady Razorbacks. The Arkansas Razorbacks took on UAPB during Elementary Day, and the energy was unmatched! Students, teachers, and staff attended for free, and the Lady Razorbacks brought home a big win with a final score of 101 to 49. BEST DAY EVER ! 🏀❤️🐗

Food Drive

Holcomb will participate in the Fayetteville Public Schools food drive from October 27-November 7. The food collected from the food drive will go to the FPS Outback food pantry. The pantry serves all FPS families. Each grade level will be bringing different items. There will be buckets in front of the office for students to put their items. The grade level with the most items will win an extra recess. Thank you for supporting our families in need!!

Holcomb Elementary celebrated its 30th birthday last night with a fun-filled party! Parents, students, teachers, administrators, former teachers and administrators, and special guests joined in the fun to honor this milestone. Margaret Holcomb was there to honor the evening, as the school is named in honor of her mother, Henrietta Holcomb. A highlight of the evening was the dedication of a special bench from the Holcomb PTA, a lasting tribute to 30 amazing years. Here's to 30 more!

A HUGE thank you to all our super dads who have signed up for car line duty so far. Every Friday morning you suit up, open car doors and launch our kiddos into school with the power of a fist bump. Keeping drop-off safe and smooth is no small mission-but you all are absolutely crushing it.

Holcomb Bike Trains
This year we'll have two bike trains starting Friday Sept 5 running through November 21! Both will arrive at the school at 7:45 AM. It will be important for parents to reach out to ride leaders to 1) stay tuned for weather cancellations and 2) help coordinate afternoon riders.
