Fifth grade students from McNair and Holt Middle Schools recently explored our local watershed during a field experience at the Illinois River Watershed Partnership in Cave Springs.
With guidance from educators at IRWP and Beaver Water District, students hiked to a cave that is home to endangered and threatened species, used an enviroscape model to see how runoff impacts our environment, and took part in a hands on water relay to learn about the water treatment process.
Experiences like this help students build a deeper understanding of environmental science while inspiring them to care for and protect our natural resources. 💜
